Yesterday, the third Monday of September, was “Respect for the Aged Day” in Japan — a day to honor and express gratitude to the elderly who have contributed to society over the years.
How did everyone spend the day?
In my family, we took our child to visit their grandmother to express our appreciation and gratitude.
It’s something so simple yet so profound — every child has parents, and each of those parents has their own parents, and so on…
That alone means one life is supported by the connections of at least fourteen people.
Lately, it feels like the value of life — this precious, irreplaceable connection — is being forgotten.
How can we convey the importance of life to the next generation?
That may be one of the most important challenges we face today.
Perhaps, it all begins with how we teach and nurture values in our children.
